Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of co-hosting the presentation “Bridging Musical Communities” at the residence of the Swedish Ambassador in Copenhagen.
The day was opened with a speech by Anders Carlsson, Minister Counsellor and Vice Chairman of the Danish-Swedish Cultural Fund. Following this, researcher Brandon Farnsworth presented the findings from his and Art Music Denmark’s pilot project “Tourbus”, which offers exciting new insights into musician mobility in the Øresund region.
The results were then actively discussed and commented on by the attendees. The work with music data is generally important, and there is great hope that this type of mobility data can help foster new and more sustainable collaborative projects between venues, as well as provide new methods for matching artists with the right performance spaces for their projects.
There was also time for a short musical program by Kirstine Lindemann and Maria Dybbroe.
A huge thank you to the Swedish Embassy, the Centre for Øresund Studies, Lund University, and Brandon Farnsworth for the collaboration, as well as to the Augustinus Foundation, the Danish Arts Foundation, Culture Moves Europe, and LU Innovation for supporting the project. And last but not least, thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to an inspiring day!
