Artists selected for Danish New Music Academy 2026

The Danish New Music Academy has selected 13 participants for its third edition, taking place from 3-8 August 2026 in Aarhus, Denmark. This year’s Open Call received a total of 79 applications, reflecting a wide international scope.

The Academy is a six-day residential course dedicated to music creation, bringing together performers and composers to develop new works through rehearsals, workshops and discussions. Rather than following a traditional teaching model, the course is built around collaboration and peer-to-peer learning, with participants creating and presenting new music together before and during the Academy.

For the 2026 edition, the Academy will also welcome visiting artists Trond Reinholdtsen (NO), Gunnhildur Einarsdóttir (IS), and four musicians from Athelas Sinfonietta (DK). Rather than taking on a conventional teaching role, the invited artists and ensemble members will join the course as collaborators, performing and working alongside the participants throughout the week.
