VÆKST

Since 2022, Musikhuset Copenhagen has held an annual residency called VÆKST, where selected ensembles have had the opportunity to create and present their music. The ensembles have, among other things, been able to write and rehearse in Musikhuset Copenhagen’s unique premises. As a culmination of each course, Musikhuset Copenhagen held VÆKST Festival in 2023 and 2024, where the ensembles presented the projects that they worked on individually and with each other during their residencies in very different ways.

VÆKST was initiated by Art Music Denmark and Musikhuset Copenhagen and served as a platform where the selected ensembles received professional sparring with us, creatively free frameworks to create new music and the opportunity to involve the audience in new ways during VÆKST Festival.

With VÆKST, Art Music Denmark has helped to support the realization of VÆKST Festival as well as the development of new Danish works with composed music, including through one of our core services: Professional advice for musicians and composers etc. within our genre areas.

With the project, Art Music Denmark has contributed to realising, developing and supporting the following areas:

• A meeting place for several newer Danish ensembles
• Common rehearsal and office space for the ensembles involved
• Ongoing sparring and advice
• Facilitating various dissemination activities
• The development and realization of VÆKST Festival in 2023 and 2024
