Art Music Denmark is pleased to announce that Maiken Vibe Bauer has been selected for our residency at Notam in 2027.
In May, we announced an open call for our first residency collaboration with Notam. The selection committee chose Maiken Vibe Bauer, who will use her residency to further develop her work KOR FOR FUGLE.
Speaking about her plans for the residency, Bauer says:
“During the residency at NOTAM, I will further develop KOR FOR FUGLE, a multichannel sound work based on 33 years of bird counts from Copenhagen’s coastal areas and an archive of bird calls. I will explore how the slow ecological shifts made visible by the data can be experienced through sound, and how the tension between registration, categorisation, and the individual bird call itself can form a compositional and spatial structure.”
About Maiken Vibe Bauer
Maiken Vibe Bauer works with sound, listening and spatial formats. Through installations, compositions and site-specific projects, she explores relationships between materials, places, recordings, technologies and more-than-human life. Her work revolves around translations between the measurable and the perceptible, and how categories, infrastructures and technologies shape what can be sensed and known.
Her practice often develops through long-term research, fieldwork and interdisciplinary collaborations. She holds an MSc in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Cultural Encounters and Studies of Language, with a focus on auditory culture.
About Notam
Notam is Norway’s centre for technology in music and the arts. It is one of the Nordic region’s leading centres for research, production, and knowledge in the field of music and technology. Since its establishment in 1992, it has been a unique and invaluable institution for the development and experimentation of new technological solutions by composers and artists working with audio technology as part of their practice.
The residency is supported by the Augustinus Foundation and the Danish Arts Foundation.
