We are excited to announce the two selected artists for this autumn’s Spain Residency at Fundación Valparaíso in Mojácar, Almería, Southern Spain.

The residency will take place from October 1–15, 2026, and offers classical musicians two weeks of immersion and artistic development in inspiring surroundings.

We asked Josefine and Winnie what they are looking forward to during their stay:

“I’m looking forward to having the time and peace to immerse myself in my solo project for voice and viola, and to prepare a recording of it,” – Josefine Weber Hansen

“I’m looking forward to spending time diving deeper into the technical aspects of J.S. Bach’s flute sonatas, as well as reading literature about them and about Bach. I very much hope to meet international musicians to exchange ideas with and be inspired by – and perhaps it will also be possible to attend a range of interesting concerts in the area.” – Winnie Bugge Frandsen

About the Musicians

Josefine Weber Hansen is a Danish composer, soprano, and violist based in Copenhagen. Her work exists at the intersection of classical traditions and contemporary expression, exploring the boundary between voice and instrument, cross-aesthetic storytelling, and collective creation. In 2025, she received the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize, and in 2026, the Hans Christian Andersen Award for her opera Thumbelina. Since 2019, she has been part of the international artist collective Damkapellet.

Winnie Bugge Frandsen is a Danish flutist specializing in early music, with a particular passion for the traverso (Baroque flute). She studied at the conservatory in Odense, the Royal College of Music in London, and completed her soloist postgraduate studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Her work ranges from rediscovering overlooked Danish flute repertoire to interpretations of Johann Sebastian Bach’s flute sonatas, which she performs together with harpsichordist Søren Gleerup.
