In collaboration with a number of national and international partners, we have offered various residencies in recent years in, among others, Southern Spain, Germany, Paris, Norway and the USA. The general intention of the residencies is to give musicians the opportunity to immerse themselves in their artistic practice and to strengthen their international networks and career opportunities. Below you will find a brief summary of the various residencies we offer.
To stay updated about upcoming residencies, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, subscribe to our newsletter or keep an eye out on our website.
If you would like to know more, or have questions about our residencies, please feel free to contact us at info@artmusicdenmark.org.
In the heart of Paris’ artistic districts of Montmartre and Marais, artists are given housing, a workplace and access to an international environment. The residency provides both networking, inspiration and the opportunity to develop their own projects in close contact with the city’s vibrant music scene.
Artists will have daily access to Cashmere Radio’s renowned studio facilities and a curated networking program in Berlin’s experimental sound scene. The residency will also provide the opportunity to present their work in a radio show and learn more about artistic and community-driven approaches to the radio format.
This artistic oasis in Andalusia focuses on immersion and exchange across disciplines. The stay provides peace to develop your own projects while being inspired by an international community of artists.
During the three-week course at Mass MoCA, participants work intensively with ensembles and the teachers behind the internationally acclaimed Bang on a Can collective. The residency concludes with LOUD Weekend, where works and collaborations are presented at a large three-day festival.
"It was a really great experience to participate in the residency in The Sound Laboratory. It was fantastic to experiment with the studio's unique machines and it was a pleasure to take part in the community around the studio."
"What made this residency program such an exceptional experience was the contrast of London’s vibrant city life and living next to the wild park Hampstead Heath. You find what you are looking for: a calm working space in an inspiring environment. And obviously you get to meet a lot of new people!"
"A residency at the Cité des Arts is an absolutely fantastic experience. It's like living in a small artist's village in the middle of Paris where you get to meet artists from all different fields and cultures. All these meetings are extremely inspiring and at the same time being allowed to take part in the exuberant cultural life that exists in Paris is just absolutely fantastic! It has given me so much new energy, inspiration and mine to take with me for the rest of my life."
"During our time at Lydlab, we learned to explore the subtleties of sound, recognising the profound effect of even the smallest nuances. Having access to these beautiful instruments revealed that limitations can inspire creativity, ultimately teaching us to embrace the age-old idea of 'less is more'. It was a pleasure to combine the tones and techniques provided by these instruments with our modern digital approaches to creating music. The presentation also gave us an opportunity to reflect on these transformative moments we encountered during our residency."
