On October 7, the genre organisations will launch the new Musikdata.dk – a central gateway to everything happening within the Danish music sector’s knowledge landscape.
Join us as the genre organisations launch Musikdata.dk, the music sector’s new shared knowledge platform and searchable knowledge base, bringing together all publicly available knowledge about Danish music. Whether you work with live music, grant applications or policy, the platform will give you searchable access to the knowledge you need in your daily work in and with music.
Musikdata.dk is currently undergoing a complete transformation, and we look forward to launching the new platform at our event on October 7.
At the event, the genre organisations’ Head of Analysis, Morten Ogstrup Nielsen, will unveil the new Musikdata.dk and demonstrate how the platform can be used in practice. You can also hear researcher Mads Krogh from the Centre for Cultural Evaluation at Aarhus University present the report “Where Does Music Stand? – Mapping Knowledge in the Music Sector with a Focus on Industry Conditions and Developments” – their mapping of knowledge production about the Danish music industry and its conclusions regarding developments in the field, fragmentation, and the most significant knowledge gaps. The mapping was carried out by the Centre for Cultural Evaluation as an independent, research-based project initiated and funded by the Augustinus Foundation, and covers approximately 370 research publications and industry reports.
A more robust knowledge infrastructure for the music sector
An increasing amount of knowledge is being produced about Danish music. Over the past 10–15 years, data, documentation and analysis have come to play a greater role, and new studies have given us more knowledge about everything from economics, audiences and working conditions to diversity, technology and live music.
Until now, there has been no shared overview or coordinated effort capable of connecting the dots and bringing existing knowledge closer to practice. The new Musikdata.dk is the genre organisations’ response to this challenge.
How will you be able to use Musikdata.dk?
Musikdata.dk will become the central source of knowledge and data about the music sector in Denmark. Here, users will be able to stay up to date on the latest figures and trends in the music sector, while actively supporting their work through access to relevant knowledge and data.
The site includes, for example, the Knowledge Base, a searchable database containing more than 250 reports and articles with knowledge about the Danish music sector. The Knowledge Base is intended to become a central tool for everyone working with music, including policymakers, advocacy organisations, festival organisers, venues and artists.
