Following our open call, the musicians have been selected, and we are pleased to announce that the chosen residents are the members of Aros Guitar Duo.

We asked the duo what they are particularly looking forward to in regards to their upcoming residency at Elvermose:

“We’re looking forward to our stay at Elvermose in April. During the residency, we’ll be working on new arrangements of Handel and Schumann, which we’ll perform at concerts in Aarhus, Odense, and Copenhagen in late May. In addition, we’re working on new pieces written for us by composers including Pernille Sejlund and Asger Buur, which will premiere later this year.” – Mikkel Egelund Nielsen

About Aros Guitar Duo

Aros Guitar Duo, consisting of Mikkel Egelund Nielsen and Simon Wildau, is dedicated to developing the traditional classical guitar duo format, through collaborations with composers on new works and by initiating innovative projects that push boundaries and play with music, art, and the concert experience. The duo also works to shed new light on old masterworks – from the Renaissance to the breakthrough of avant-garde music – through their arrangements and deeply considered interpretations of the standard repertoire.

Most recently, the duo presented works by Danish composers based on a shared theme at a series of intimate concerts on 20 Danish islands during the summer of 2020.

The project is run by Elvermose Classical Concerts in collaboration with Ensemble Storstrøm and Art Music Denmark, and is supported by The Danish Arts Foundation.
