Once again the composer collective Bang on a Can and Art Music Denmark offer one Danish composer or musician a three-week residency at Bang on a Can’s Summer Music Festival in Massachusetts from July 14th – August 3rd 2025.

The funding will cover tuition and housing. Application deadline: January 13 2025 at 11 pm (CET)

About the Festival

The Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival is a three-week residency and musical utopia for innovative composers and performers. It occurs at MASS MoCA in the beautiful Berkshire mountains in western Massachusetts.

In addition to participating in workshops, masterclasses, and social activities, you will be provided with practice facilities, and, best of all, you will meet a lot of exciting and highly skilled musicians and composers.

The residency concludes with a three-day blow-out festival featuring performances by the student/faculty ensembles. The program also includes world music workshops, an orchestra of original instruments, technology and music business seminars and more.

“This summer, I had the pleasure of experiencing Bang on a Can up close as a resident in their annual 3-week summer festival, culminating in “Loud Weekend”, where I participated in several concerts. To call it a positive experience would be an understatement – when you leave, you feel fully part of the Bang on a Can family, which I will always value highly in my career. In addition to creating both professional contacts and friendships, I got very close to musicians and composers whom I deeply admire, and feeling that you can contribute to this environment with my musicianship is something I will rarely forget.” – Ruben Høgh, resident at Bang on a Can 2024.
