OPEN CALL: Residency in Paris

Would you like to develop your artistic project in the heart of Paris? Art Music Denmark now has the opportunity to nominate musicians and composers working within classical and contemporary music for a 3-month residency at the iconic Cité internationale des Arts, run by the Institut français.

The residency will take place between April 2026 and April 2027. It will allow you to live and work in the heart of Paris (Marais and Montmartre), with ample opportunity to develop your project, gain inspiration, and exchange ideas with colleagues from all over the world.


Who can apply?

  • Professional musicians or composers working within classical or contemporary music.
  • Applicants must have a research or creative project to develop during the residency.
  • Applicants must be either Danish citizens (regardless of whether you live in Denmark or abroad) or musicians / composers of any nationality currently residing in Denmark


The residency includes*:

  • 3 months’ accommodation in a studio apartment at Cité internationale des Arts.
  • Monthly allowance of EUR 1,000.
  • Travelsupport t/r Denmark–Paris (up to DKK 3500)

How to apply:

Submit via the application form and attach the following documents in English as PDF:

  • CV (max. 2 pages).
  • Artistic portfolio (with links to audio/video recording – max. 12 pages).
  • Description of a specific project for the residency (max. 2 pages
  • A signed statement ensuring that you are indeed either/or both the performer and/or composer of the links sent in.
  • Recommendation letter from an institution or professional, dated and signed by 2025.

Selection process

Applications will be reviewed by a committee convened by the Institut français, with representatives from French cultural institutions. The committee reserves the right to decline projects without justification.

In case of a very high number of applications, Art Music Denmark’s Music Committee will carry out a pre-selection.


The selected candidate is expected to be notified in January 2026.
