Based on an open call, composer, sound artist and lector at RMC Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard has been selected for Art Music Denmark’s board.
Art Music Denmark’s board consists of seven different profiles who shall help strengthen Art Music Denmark’s strategy and purpose – among others a performing or creating artist, which we announced an open call for in December 2023. The board selected Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard for the position, who has been an established and relevant profile for Art Music Denmark’s musical scenes, both as a composer, sound artist, lector at RMC, etc., for years.
Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard tells about his expectations for the board work: ”In different ways, my work lies in between the musical areas which Art Music Denmark works with, and which thus doesn’t fit 100% with these categories. Hereby, I hope to be able to contribute to the board work with a constructive perspective on how institutional preconceptions can be softened and thereby make Art Music Denmark work even more relevant and visible to more people.”
Asbjørn Nørgaard, chairperson of the board, tells about the decision to choose Løkkegaard: “Art Music Denmark received many exciting applications in regards to the open call for the position. But we’re certain that sound artist and composer Niels Løkkegaard is the right choice as a new board member. Niels Løkkegaard is one of the most significant musicians in the Danish scene in the past years and his diverse praxis means that he understands Art Music Denmark’s broad musical area. I’m certain that he’ll be a big asset for Art Music Denmark’s board and I’m looking forward to the collaboration.”
About Art Music Denmark’s board
The board is Art Music Denmark’s overall authority and consists of seven members. It is selected on the basis of competences that reflect Art Music Denmark’s vision and strategy. In relation to this position, Art Music Denmark sought after an active and creating or performing musician from our musical areas. Before Løkkegaard, composer and musician Ejnar Kanding was part of the board, who chose not to renominate last year.
