On March 12, the duo Atikka will present their work in The Sound Laboratory, where they’ve been in a residency for a month.
On February 12, the electronic duo Atikka began a residency for a month in The Sound Laboratory in Musikhuset København, after they’d been selected based on an Open Call in 2023. On March 12, Art Music Denmark and Strøm welcome everyone who’s interested to The Sound Laboratory, where it’ll be possible to experience Atikkas work from their residency.
At the event, the duo, which consists of Susanne and John Cleworth, will present some of the methods and sounds that they’ve experimented with during their residency in The Sound Laboratory and tell more about their thoughts behind incorporating these in their new work “Merging Trails”, which they’ll also perform excerpts from. Lastly, it’ll be possible to ask questions about their work in The Sound Laboratory.
About The Sound Laboratory
The Sound Laboratory is a collaboration between Art Music Denmark and Strøm. With the project, Strøm and Art Music Denmark wish to both preserve and at the same time activate the cultural heritage which is related to the electronic equipment that’s been used decades ago. The Sound Laboratory is part of the project Lydskatten (The Sound Treasure), which is a collaboration between Art Music Denmark, Strøm and The Danish Composer’s Society. The project is supported by The Augustinus Foundation and Koda Culture. Read more about the project here.
In 2023, the two musicians Anton Friisgaard and Liv Andrea Hildursdóttir participated in residencies in The Sound Laboratory, where they both gave a presentation of their work at a public event as a culmination of their residencies. In 2024, artist, composer and musician Jacob Remin also participated in a residency.
You can read more about The Sound Laboratory (in Danish) in our annual publication for 2023 (p. 12). The annual publication can be read and downloaded here.
