ASK: Artists Share Knowledge

What insights and perspectives can art give us when it comes to the climate and a sustainable transition? This is what we are looking to answer through the project ”ASK: Artists Share Knowledge”. ”ASK” started in 2023 and is an international platform for professional artists in the field of sound. The aim of the platform is to create a space where sound artists can develop and share new ideas on the role and possibilities of how culture can contribute to a positive ecological change.

In 2023, Art Music Denmark along with partner organisations from Germany and Denmark undertook a pilot project with the aim of gathering knowledge and inspiration from the sound artist communities. This project took the form of a traveling international think tank, dealing with the subject of ecological change in an artistic practice – using the art as a medium to change and inspiration! Next edition of “ASK” will commence in 2024, this time with a broader focus on all of northern Europe, creating events and workshops in several Nordic countries and culminating with presentations at World Music Days in Faroe Islands and Nordic Music Days in Glasgow.

Art Music Denmark’s several international partner organisations commit to a long term focus on the subject of artists involvement in a positive ecological change. It is the hope that ASK will become an ongoing platform for artists across Europe (and the world!) to develop, share and preserve knowledge on the subject and that each yearly iteration of the project will expand the network and general knowledge.
