As part of Art Music Denmark’s focus on the role of music in promoting sustainability and green transition, we hired sound artist, composer, activist and more, Arash Pandi, in a temporary position as Artistic Knowledge Agent in September 2024.
Today, we are publishing the result of his work: a 50-page digital publication titled Art, Music and Sustainability. The purpose of the publication is to offer inspiration for artists working with sustainability and green transition as part of their artistic practice.
Art, Music and Sustainability was written by sound artist and activist, Arash Pandi. It was written as part of a collaborative research project with Art Music Denmark, that took place in the second half of 2024, as part of Art Music Denmark’s ongoing focus on sustainability and green transition within music and sound art. The aim of the project was to explore perspectives and develop knowledge of how to engage with the current climate crisis from an artistic perspective.
With reference to key initiatives and literature on the topic, Arash Pandi presents his general reflections on the potential of art and music in regards to sustainability. The text is concluded by an extensive appendix, where relevant examples of contemporary artistic projects and initiatives are presented.
You can now read the publication on our website here: Art Music and Sustainability.
