Art Music Denmark, Danish Composers’ Society and Musikhuset København have offered two workrooms for composers in the past half year. It’s now possible to apply again for joining the composer’s work-community and get a cheap workroom in an exciting venue.

Are you a composer and working with a piece or project related to classical, contemporary music or sound art, then you can now apply for joining a community of up to 8 composers. Together, you’ll have two workrooms available in Musikhuset København on Vesterbrogade in the period 8/1-30/6 2024.

The workrooms have very simple interior design: Chairs and electric piano and they’re most suitable for composers who work in relative serenity.

Besides getting access to the workrooms, one will also become part of Musikhuset København’s growing user groups who, besides the composers working there, counts classical ensembles, KLANG-Festival, Art Music Denmark and more.

Composers, who partake in the community, have to arrange the usage of the workrooms with each other and Musikhuset København. The selected composers will have to pay a participation fee of DKK 500 for the whole period (lump sum).

It’s very easy to apply: Apply by filling out the application form below before 17/12 2023.

APPLICATION FORM

The selected composers will be invited to a collective coordination & information meeting around 12/6, whereafter the workrooms will be disposable.

Selection

The work community already consists of four other composers. In addition to them, Art Music Denmark selects up to four other composers who’ll partake in the work community. It’s mandatory that you work professionally with a project relating to classical, contemporary music or sound art. The selection happens by random selection between qualified applicants.

Further information

If you wish to hear more about the project or see the workrooms before applying, contact Regin Petersen from Art Music Denmark: regin@artmusicdenmark.org / +45 31528617.

We hope to create a more inspiring environment of different composers and encourage all interested applicants to apply regardless of age, gender or artistic aesthetic.

The workrooms are offered by Art Music Denmark, Danish Composers’ Society, Musikhuset København and are supported by Koda Culture.
