Thanks for an inspiring event together with Copenhagen Opera Festival

On Friday 18, we had the great pleasure of presenting an inspiring panel discussion together with Copenhagen Opera Festival – one out of two events which we hosted together with the festival.

The event, which was made in collaboration with Copenhagen Opera Festival, concerned the new opera “Undoing Carmen”. Here, the director Anna Sofie Keller Brandsborg, composer Kirstine Fogh Vindelev and knowledge-consultant and expert in violence in intimate relations and femicide Katrine Amalie Keller told about how they dissected the French opera classic “Carmen” from the point of view of recent research on intimate partner homicide. The event also involved a panel discussion about opera classics regarded from a critical perspective, which was moderated by strategic consultant – and much more – Eline Wernberg Sigfusson.

It was exciting and thought provoking to hear the many reflections on, inter alia, how theory and artwork can complement one another, the possibility of making a canonical work of art relevant for our times, the feminist and critical perspective on Carmen and much more.

Thank to Copenhagen Opera Festival for the great collaboration, which also involved the successful event “Kompositionsmesterklassen” the previous week. Also, thanks a lot to the audience for their relevant questions!
