Consultant with expertise in classical music: 10 hours pr. week from 15th of March 2023 or as soon as possible.

 

Art Music Denmark is looking for a new employee: A consultant with expertise in classical music. It’s a part time position limited to one year from 15th of March 2023.

Art Music Denmark is the Danish national organisation for contemporary music, classical and sound art. Art Music Denmark works closely together with the other national music organisations in strengthening and developing the music scenes in Denmark and Danish music abroad.

About the job

The job as consultant consists in, inter alia, consultation and information work for the different actors in Danish classical music, in particular freelancers and smaller organisations. In addition to this, the job also involves a continuous orientation about what’s going on in classical music in Denmark and internationally as well as participating to a small extent in Art Music Denmark’s project- and communication work.

Art Music Denmark’s office is placed in Musikhuset København in Vesterbro. The work involves many opportunities for flexibility and you’ll plan your working hours together with the director of Art Music Denmark. Only a small extent of the work demands your presence at our office, so you don’t need to live in Copenhagen in order to apply.

Your tasks will, inter alia, consist in…:

  • Offering counselling to actors working with classical music
  • Participating in the coordination of the organisation’s work, including counselling the organisation’s employees

As well as to a lesser extent to…:

  • Participate in smaller projects
  • Seek out knowledge about classical music, such as by contributing to smaller publications, etc.
  • Represent the organisation at relevant events
  • Participate in, and being a host at, smaller networking events
  • Contribute to the organisation’s communication about classical music, including participation in the preparation of material for funding applications, etc.

About you

At Art Music Denmark, your work will be characterised by freedom under own responsibility. Therefore, you shall be ready to work independently and participate in developing your own field of work. You’ll have to enjoy speaking with many different people and being competent at counselling about many different topics: from funding, touring, project management, curation, marketing and much more.

We expect you to have…:

  • An extensive knowledge about classical music, its actors and structures, both in and outside of Copenhagen
  • An extensive national and international network for what comes to classical music
  • Understanding of smaller actors’ professional challenges in particular
  • Strong language skills in both Danish and English

It’s an advantage if you have…:

  • Practical experience as an actor working with classical music, for example as a musician, institutional director or similar
  • Experience with teaching and counselling
